ADA Compliance Support
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law enacted in 1990. Over the years, the guidelines have changed, but the core principle of the Act is to provide reasonable accommodations to anyone with a physical or mental disability. The passage of the ADA builds on other laws, such as the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. While the ADA does not specify websites, numerous legal cases have been interpreted by courts to apply accessibility standards to websites.
RC Website Group suggests careful consideration on what ADA Compliance means to your website, and to even seek legal counsel. Some companies, such as Accessibe specialize in providing website accessibility services. Learn more @ https://accessibe.com.
Their service includes the integration of a special ‘accessibility tool’ (widget) to help people with disabilities. With this, Accessibe also provides scans of your website with an audit of whether your website is considered ‘compliant’ or ‘non compliant’. While you as the CLIENT have a direct relationship to Accessibe, RC Website Group offers supporting services (if requested) in helping to integrate and/or maintain the Accessibe services – including help in fixing the issues/concerns Accessibe could bring to your attention.
